In addition to the familiar dishes, turtle soup is the most unique dish on the US National Day. Legend has it that, on July 4, 1776, former President John Adams and his wife celebrated the independence ceremony with the main dish being turtle soup, braised salmon with egg sauce, green beans and boiled potatoes. They even put on the table to eat Indian pudding and apple pie.
